Ike Burnham dies in Mo. Thanksgiving
Ivan "Ike" Burnham, former Lusk resident, died Thanksgiving Day in a hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. Rosary service was held Sunday, Nov. 26, with final rites and burial being on Monday at Stewartsville, Missouri.
"Ike" as he was familiarly known by friends, was born to Roy and Mae Burnham June 2, 1911 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He married Marie McGinty in December 1929. They moved to Lusk in the early 1950's and were employed on the Ira Lamb ranch. Moving into Lusk, he operated the Lusk Cabin Camp and the Lusk Taxi. He served as Niobrara Democratic Democratic chairman, and later as a guard at the the Wyoming Penitentiary.
Returning to St. Joseph, Mo., in 1960 to make their home, he operated a small appliance repair shop. He was a victim of multiple sclerosis and has been ill for many years, and had been bedfast since last May.
He is survived by his widow Marie and son Ricky of the family home, and one granddaughter. The Burnham family mailing address is Rte. 1, Stewartsville, Missouri 64490.
