Helen Price Britton Killed in Accident Near Cheyenne
Mrs. Lester (Helen) Britton, 32, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferd T. Price, formerly of Prairie Center community, died at 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening as the result of an auto accident earlier in the day.
Mrs. Britton lived at Baker, Ore. She with her husband had gone to Denver to buy a pickup truck. They were returning by way of Torrington to visit her parents there and to attend the Podolak Hereford sale at Lusk, Mrs. Podolak being a sister of Mr. Britton.
The accident occurred two miles north of Rockport near Cheyenne. Mr. Britton was in the lead driving the passenger car and she was following in the truck. Another motorist attempting to pass her was crowded by an approaching car, and in turn Mrs. Britton was crowded off the road,.
Mr. Britton was watching his rear mirror, noticed the accident and stopped. Mrs. Britton was taken to the Cheyenne hospital where she died at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services are being held at Torrington Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Bondurant officiating, The body will be taken to Baker, Ore. for burial and memorial services will be held there.
Mrs. Britton was born at Centerville, S. Dak. July 19, 1916, the daughter of Ferd T. and Mary L. Price. The family later moved to the Prairie Center community. She was married to Lester A. Britton at her parents' ranch home Aug. 1, 1938. She and her husband have lived at Baker for three years.
She was a charter member of Jobs Daughters at Lusk, member of Moose ladies at Baker, of the Modern Woodmen Society and of the Irene Maugher Group of the Baptist church.
Mrs. Britton graduated from Torrington High School in 1933 and attended the University of Wyoming.
Surviving besides her husband and father and mother, is a sister, Mrs. Sadie l. Thompson, of Denver.
