Funeral for Jessie Mae Buckley held here Tuesday
Funeral service for Jessie Mae Buckley, 86, who died at her home on May 27, was held Tuesday at 2:00 from the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison with the Rev. Wayne Tieszen, pastor, officiating.
Organist was Dorothy Todd and soloist was Bill Mann who sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were great-nephews, Steve and Gerry Mack, Jim and Mike Bannan and Scott and Bill Buckley. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Hamaker, Bud Murphy, Frank Harris, Clarence Schnurr, Clarence Pfeiffer, Harold Skavdahl, Oakley Edgel, and Laurance Adams.
Jessie Buckley was the only daughter of Rudolph and Emily Jane Buckley. She and her twin brother George were born March 17, 1891, at Stuart, Iowa.
The family moved to Belmont, Nebr., in 1896 in a covered wagon. As a child she attended school in Belmont. The family lived in Crawford two years, and she also attended school there. In 1908 the family moved to Sioux County where they have lived since. Mrs. Buckley had a homestead southeast of the Agate Fossil Beds. She never married and lived with her brothers Bill and Carl.
She always loved children and cared for the sick, accompanying Dr. Frank Borglum as a helper in delivering many babies around the country. Gardening was also one of her activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Roy and her twin George. Surviving are her brothers Bill, Carl, and Emerson of Harrison.
