Clara Buckley, 87, of Crawford, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Ponderosa Villa. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor James Martin officiating. Burial took place at the Crawford Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the church or American Cancer Society. Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on September 11, 1913, in Campbell, Neb., to H. Peter and Caroline (Arnold) Einspahr. When she was child, the family moved to the Sand Hills south of Ainsworth where she grew up. She graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison in 1932. After passing her teachers' examinations she taught at District #48 in Sioux County for two years. She married Dick A. Buckley on May 24, 1934, in Chadron. They resided in Sioux County for 40 years before moving to Lusk, Wyo. in 1975. She has been a resident of Crawford since 1979.
She served on the school boards of School Districts #52 and #12 for many years and was a member of the Log Cabin Extension Club in Sioux County, Nebraska. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith as an infant and remained a lifetime member.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, LWML, Bible Study Group, Crawford Women's Club, Crawford Senior Citizens Center, RSVP, War Dads, Sewing Club and the Bridge Club.
She is survived by her daughters, Delilah and husband Ed Flaherty of Hemingford, Anna Marie and husband Jim Reece of Crawford, Mildred and husband Jerry Lewis of Lusk, Alberta and husband Kevin Anderson of San Lorenzo, Calif., and Vicki and husband Douglas Ring of Torrington; sister Lydia Schmitt of Hastings; sisters-in law, Gertie Vyzourek of Crawford, and Ruby Faye Lee of Hastings; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
