George E. Deuel Jr.
George E. Deuel, Jr., formerly of Lance Creek, died Oct. 1, 2002.
He was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Manville to George E. and Ida Deuel.
Growing up on the ranch on Cow Creek in northern Niobrara County, he attended several country schools, until the family moved to Douglas in 1936. George graduated from Douglas High School in 1940.
In 1942 he went to California to work in defense plants. In June of that year he married Juanita Jamison in Yuma, Ariz. One son Kenneth Wray Deuel was born to this union.
He returned to the ranch in April 1943 and sold out in 1955. The family moved to Spearfish, S. D., and operated the Antler Motel, selling in 1969 and moving to Bloomington, Minn.
He is survived by his wife Marie M. Deuel; a son Kenneth Deuel of Eagle Bend; two grandsons, David Deuel of Sartell, and Benjamin Deuel of Eagle Bend; four great grandchildren; a brother and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita in 1977; his parents; two sisters; and a stepson.
Burial took place in Wheeling, Mo., beside his first wife, Oct. 19, 2002.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
