Ramona Maria Luisa Lira
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Ramona Maria Luisa Lira, 83, will be held at 9 am Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Rose Catholic church with Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Ramona died at Community Hospital in Torrington May 31, 2016. Memorials may be made to the Special Touch Program at Community Hospital. A Rosary/Wake will be held at the church Friday June 10, 2016 at 6 p.m. visitation will be Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the funeral home and the casket will be open at the rosary. Ramona was born October 3, 1932 in Lingle, Wyoming the daughter of Ramon and Juana (Santiago) Barajas. Her family moved to Torrington, Wyoming when she was young and she received her education there graduating from Torrington High School. She then attended Barnes Business College in Denver, Colorado. Ramona married Jerry Lira on October 10, 1959 in Torrington. She worked with the Head Start Program in Torrington for several years. They started Lira's Restaurant in Lingle in 1972 and owned and operated it to the present. Jerry died in 2000.
Ramona enjoyed gambling and traveling.
Ramona is survived by five daughters Geraldine Lira, Lisa Lira, Monica Lira, and Gina (Rafael) Avila all of Torrington, Wyoming, and Suzanne (John) Rocha of Wheatland, Wyoming; a son Jerry Lira Jr. of Westminster, Colorado; brothers Joe Barajas of Yakima, Washington, Raymond Barajas of Westminster, Hyinio Barajas of Commerce City, Colorado, and Johnny Barajas of Denver, Colorado; a sister Virginia Munoz of Torrington; grandchildren Brandi Correa, Jeremy Lira, Eric Avila, Micaela Lira, Andre Rocha, Ericka Avila, Isabella Lira, Marcus Lira, John Rocha Jr., Michael Rocha, and Alex Rocha; and great grandchildren Gage Correa, Jazlyn Lira, Aayiah Lira, Rory Avila, Kane Correa, and Bladen Lira. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Ross Baraja; and a grandson Angel Rocha.
