Josephine "Jo" Haworth Burns

"Jo" was born Sunday, June 12, 1927 in Hemingford NE to James and Florence (Schipper) Ringer. Jo graduated in 1945 from Manville High School in Wyoming. The next year, she married her first love, Elvin Haworth. Though they wanted to have children of their own, they were unable to so they set forth to adopt a baby. In 1953, they got their wish and adopted Terri Jo. For fourteen years they were a hard-working and loving family until Elvin was called Home in 1968. Jo then raised Terri on her own. Jo found love again and married Jim Burns in 1975 in Anchorage Alaska.

Through life's many adventures, Jo carried herself with grace, dignity, humor and quite possibly the heaviest purses ever. She enjoyed going to the rodeo, horse shows, and her cats. She ran a hotel with her sister, ran the parts department at a farm store, and later in life, enjoyed retirement and was able to spend quality time with her daughter and her grandkids. Jo was loved immensely by anyone who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Terri, and favorite son in law, Mont. Three granddaughters and their spouses: Shaley and Sha, Kendra and Matt, and Katie and Shane. One grandson: Jarrod and his wife, Kayla. Four great grandchildren: Tel, Rye, Jackson, and Alyvia. Two great-great grandchildren: Benni and River. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo was greeted at Heaven's gate by her parents, first husband Elvin, sisters Betty and Bonnie and her brother Jim.
