H. E. BARNES DIES FROM INJURIES

Herbert E. Barnes, 67 years old, who was injured by a fall from a horse on April 26 of this year, died at the Douglas Hospital in Douglas, last Thursday, July 7, as a result of the injuries sustained, from which he never recovered.

While at work on this ranch, 40 miles north of Lusk, Mr. Barnes was thrown from a horse and suffered a broken thigh. Several hours after the accident he was found by Mrs. Barnes, and after much difficulty, was placed across a horse and brought to the ranch. He was then brought to Lusk in a car, and taken to the Douglas Hospital, where he remained until his death. Every effort was made to set the broken thigh, and he was operated upon several times, and he failed to recover from the last operation.

The remains were taken to Sibley, Iowa for interment, which took place on Sunday, July 10th.

Herbert Erwin Barnes was born on July 22, 1859, at Betoll, Michigan. In 1881 he was united in marriage at Sibley, Iowa, to Matilda Spencer. In April, 1910, Mr. and Mrs. Barnes and their family came to Wyoming. Those left to mourn his passing are his widow, Mrs. Matilda Barnes of Lusk; two sons, Ross of Janet, and Fred of Graves and Mrs. Joe Grimm of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. H. T. Spencer of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Carroll of Lusk.
