Shirley Kay Murphy
Funeral services for Shirley Kay Murphy, 74, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Douglas Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Roy Phillips officiating. Internment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Shirley Murphy died Monday, January 4, 2016 at her home in Douglas surrounding by her loving family.
Shirley was born Monday, August 18, 1941 in Lusk, Wyoming the daughter of Leonard and Essie (Holloway) Williams. She was raised and educated in Lusk and graduated from the Lusk High School in 1961. She was married to Raymond Lee Murphy on December 10, 1961 in Lusk, and they lived in the Midwest-Egerton, Wyoming area until 1967. At that time they moved to Casper, Wyoming residing there until 1976 when they moved to Douglas. She worked as a hostess in various restaurants in Douglas for many years. She was a very active member of the Douglas Baptist Church and most of all enjoyed working with the Sonshiners Senior Ministry.
She enjoyed taking care of her grand babies and feeding the birds.
She is survived by her four children, Sharon (Jack) Wales, Raymond Lee (Marilyn) Murphy Jr., and Derek (Janice) Murphy all of Douglas and Larry (Alicia) Murphy of Lusk; one sister, Carole Garcia of Casper; five brothers, Melvin Williams of Bellingham, Washington, Harold Williams of Billings, Montana, Donnie Williams of Buffalo, Wyoming, Terry Williams of Lusk, and Gary Williams of Casper; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Lee Murphy Sr., on January 3, 2000; and five brothers, Dale, Bob, Basil, Larry, and Jimmy Williams.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cathan Murphy, Jesse Cheney, Eathan Murphy, and Kiefer Murphy.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Leach, Michael Donnelly, and Kenny Bowen.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
A memorial to the Douglas Baptist Church, 135 Pearson Drive, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
