Ruth Janet Manring

Ruth Thomas Manring, a long-time Lusk resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home September 19, 2015, as the result of an apparent heart attack. She was 94 years old. A memorial service is being planned for October 24.

Ruth Manring, aged 94, passed away September 19, 2015, at her home in Lusk, Wyoming. A memorial service will be held at the Lusk Congregational church on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating.

Ruth was born in Box Butte County, Nebraska, November 27, 1920, and was the fourth of six children of Julius A. and Nellie L. (Badgerow) Johns. She attended rural schools in Box Butte County and graduated from Sioux County high School in Harrison, with the class of 1938.

In October, 1939, she was united in marriage to Samuel M. Thomas, in Chadron, Nebraska.

After the war Ruth and Sam, now with two boys, moved to Lusk. In 1951, the family moved to the home they built in Lusk where Ruth lived for the next 64 years.

In January 1983, Ruth married Darryl R. Manring.

Ruth was an active member of the Lusk Congregational Church, the Lusk Women's Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Mayflower Society, Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Ruth had many friends from the Congregational and Episcopal Churches, as well as the Senior Center, where she enjoyed lunch and fellowship on a regular basis. She also greatly appreciated the care, concern and helpfulness shown her by her many friends and neighbors.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Don (Shirley) Thomas of Monrovia, California, and Larry Thomas of Spokane, Washington; stepdaughters Lesley Manring of Wheatridge, Colorado, and Darilyn Manring of Geogetown, Connecticut; grandchildren Dustine Thomas of Springs, Texas, David (Jennifer) Thomas of Corona, California, Daniel (Sarah) Thomas of San Dimas, California, Anton Borchers of Wheatridge, Colorado; great-grandchildren Cristian Borchers and Susan Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sam in 1978 and husband Darryl in 2014; and two brothers and three sisters.

Ruth Manring memorial service

A memorial service for Ruth Manring, 94, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sat., Oct. 24, 2015, at the Congregational Church in Lusk.

Mrs. Manring passed away at her home Sept. 19, 2015. A full obituary was published in the October 7, 2015 edition of the Lusk Herald.

Pier Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
