Esther Pearson

Esther Pearson, age 88, formerly of Lusk, WY, passed away Sept. 6, 2015 in Wakefield, NE. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium. Interment will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Esther was born on September 29, 1926, to John and Myrtle Sheaman in their homestead home in Agate Basin, WY. Esther only got to complete the 9th grade, as her parents insisted she help her married sister run a country general store in Burdock, SD. On August 21st, 1946, she married Earl Pearson in a double wedding with her brother, Bob Sheaman and Alice Pearson (Earl's sister) in Lusk, WY. Esther and Earl lived in Mule Creek, WY where Earl was employed in the oil field until March 1959. Then they moved to the ranch north of Lusk, WY as Earl's father, Carl, had had a stroke. Esther remained at the ranch after Earl passed away in 1993. In 2005, she moved into Lusk. In September of 2009, Esther moved in with her daughter Kathryn and husband Dee in Wayne. In January 2013, she moved to the assisted living at Careage of Wayne. She enjoyed her time there. After her cancer diagnosis and surgery, she moved into the nursing home at Careage in March of 2013. In February 2015, she moved to Wakefield Care Center and loved her time there. Esther enjoyed the ranch where she gardened and canned her produce and loved growing flowers. For several years, she raised schipperke and poodle dogs. Her best friend and constant companion was Skip, a black shipperke dog. Esther always had one or two "lap warmers" in her little dogs. While on the ranch, she and her family raised cattle, sheep, and quarter horses. She loved the newborn animals in the spring. She loved to read and had quite the collection of books.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Kathryn) and Dee Lutt of Wayne; two sons, Carl (CJ) and Beckie Pearson of Newcastle, WY, and Russ and Sena Pearson of Lusk, WY; grandchildren, Tanya (Jason) Necklason of Wright, WY, Carla Place of Belle Fourche, SD, Cody (Becky) Pearson of Gillette, WY, Lyle (Neisha) Lutt of Norfolk, Lesa (Dan) Rhods of Wayne; great-grandchildren, Talon, Levi, Shelby, Toree, Trinity, Logan, Mason, Blake, and Cole plus 5 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl in 1993; daughter, Karolyn in 1960; son, Gary in 1999; sister, Helen Peterson; brothers, Robert and Samuel Sheaman and an infant brother.

Pier funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the arrangements.
