LuElla Berniece Smith
LuElla Berniece Smith, age 93, a resident of Lusk, Wyoming, entered her heavenly home on April 6, 2015. She was born to Warren R. Biegler and Emma (Miottel) Biegler on July 24. 1921 in Revillo, South Dakota. She attended Wessington High School in Wessington, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Thomas Donald Smith (Sam) on August 1, 1947. She became a full time wife and mother which she loved and this union was blessed with four children: Pam, Val, Marcie and Kevin.
After living many years in South Dakota, they retired in rural Guthrie Center, Iowa and she moved to Lusk, Wyoming, after her husband's passing in 1993.
She was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Adair, Iowa and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk, Wyoming.
She was a devoted wife and mother to her four children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her new great-great granddaughter. She had a great sense of humor and many interests and hobbies. She loved fishing, watching sports, NASCAR and PRCA rodeo. She made the best raised donuts and loved sharing them with everyone. She enjoyed sewing and made many baptismal gowns, baby quilts and variety of things for the children at the Lusk Early Childhood Center. She loved traveling when she was able and liked to garden.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters Pamela Hansen of Lusk, Wyoming; Valerie Tunink of Guthrie Center, Iowa; Marcella (Dennis) Knigge of Polk City, Iowa and one son Kevin (Judy) Smith of Maize, Kansas; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great step-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and three great-great step grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Sam, her parents, four brothers; one sister, two son-in-laws, James Hansen and Robert Tunink and one grandchild, Karla Knigge.
She will be fondly remembered by many.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thur., Apr. 9, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lusk. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery in rural Iowa.
The family is very appreciative for all the caregivers at Niobrara Life and Health Center who provided loving care for her.
