Catherine Mae Knittle
Funeral Services for Catherine M. Knittle will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home Chapel in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Stan Murdock officiating. Interment will be held at the Wilcox Cemetery at Wilcox following the service.
Catherine Mae Knittle, 93 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Catherine was born on September 11, 1921 in Anselmo, Nebraska, the third of four children born to Joseph and Rosella (Hickey) Tobey. The family made their home in Anselmo, where she received her education through the 8th grade.
She was united in marriage to Willie Jezbera and to this union five children were born: William, James, Gary, Jerry and Agnes "Angie". They later divorced.
On August 22, 1976, she was united in marriage to Otto Knittle in Lusk, Wyoming. They made their home in Lusk.
Catherine worked various jobs in restaurants, nursing homes, and provided some in-home nursing care through the years, but her main priority was raising her children. She enjoyed playing the organ and had a love for people. She loved to strike up a conversation with anyone who crossed her path, but what she loved most, was spending time with her family and grandkids.
Catherine was a long time member of the VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2722 in Kearney.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Clark Tobey and Cecil Tobey; sister, Iona Love; and one grandson, William Charles Jezbera, Jr.
She is survived by her children: William Jezbera and his wife, Sharon "Kay" of Kearney, James Jezbera and his wife, Vel of Burwell, Nebraska, Gary Jezbera and his wife, Charlene of Wilcox, Jerry Jezbera of Holdrege and Angie Jezbera of York, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.
A memorial has been established in Catherine's honor and kindly suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Wilcox Fire and Rescue Squad.
