Rollin "Rollie" William Christian

ROLLIN CHRISTIAN PASSED AWAY

Rollin William Christian, born February 17, 1888, in Audubon County, Iowa, died at Kirtley, Wyoming, Aug. 6th, at the age of 31 years. He was the first of a family of thirteen children to be called to the great beyond, and leaves behind him as immediate mourners of the family his father and mother, five sisters, Mrs. Charles Wormwood, Glendo, Wyo.; Mrs. George Reynolds, Chadron, Neb.; Mrs. Morey Park, Parksberry, Penn.; Mrs. G.D. Wilson, Mrs. Orin P. Moyer, Mrs. O.J. Nichodemus, Miss Amy Christian, Miss Georgia Christian and Miss Freida Christian, besides his brothers, Messrs. Andrew, Raymond and J.H. Christian, all of Lusk.

The funeral services will be held from the ranch house at Kirtley, at the hour of 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning, all friends of the deceased and of the family being cordially invited to attend.

The demise of Rollin William Christian leaves a vacancy in the circle of old-time Niobrara citizenship that can never be filled. Of a peculiarly lovable nature and of the highest standard of principles, outside of his own family, he will be missed and mourned by a group as wide as his acquaintanceship, which was considerable. Growing from childhood into manhood's estate in the community of Lusk, his life has been an open book, the turned pages of which will portray only lines of the highest endeavor.

In a measure, the young man's life may be said to have been given to the cause of his country in the great struggle he has just passed through. Not-withstanding he had been for upwards of 12 years a constant sufferer from stomach trouble, Mr. Christian felt he must do something to aid in the upholding of right throughout the world, and by some miracle passed the physical examination and was admitted into the army on July 25, 1918. He was first stationed with the medical corps at Fort Riley, afterwards transferred to Camp Sheridan, Alabama. During his entire time in service he was in constantly declining health, and was sent from Camp Sheridan to the recuperation camp at Denver, Colorado, where, almost entirely broken down he was discharged from the service in June last.

Returning to Lusk, where he had occasional spells of improved spirits, but with never improving health, on Wednesday, the 6th last, in the midst of is family surroundings, he passed to his maker.
