Lillian Brott Dies Saturday

March 22, 1973

Mrs. Judson (Lillian) Brott, 49, died Saturday afternoon at the Niobrara County Hospital in Lusk after suffering a massive coronary attack. She had been injured early Friday morning in an auto accident north of Manville when the 1968 Ford station wagon she was driving went out of control on ice, went thru the barrow pit and highway fence and between two trees in the yard of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Kaper.

Funeral service for Mrs. Brott was held at the Peet Chapel in Lusk on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fred Bolinger of the First Baptist Church of Lusk officiated.

James Pavalacky sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" accompanied by Mrs. Judson Watson at the organ.

Pallbearers were Jesse York, Robert Sides, Walter F. Kant, Luther Penfield Sr., Joseph O'Brien, James Groves, Roscoe Ross and Scott Sides.

Lillian May Munsinger was born at Parkington in Converse County on July 19, 1923, to William and Vera Bird Munsinger, the oldest of a family of 14 children. She grew to womanhood on the family homestead north of Lance Creek, where her father also worked for the Ohio Oil Company. On December 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Judson Francis Brott at the First Baptist Church in Lusk. The couple lived on the Petty Johnson ranch where Mr. Brott was employed prior to going to Oregon where he worked in the shipyards during World War II. The family moved back to Niobrara County where they have since made their home on a ranch south of Lance Creek. Mr. Brott was employed by the Marathon Oil Company until his death in 1967.

Mrs. Brott had recently sold her place to Stewart Sides and the family was planning to move to Lusk.

Brotts were the parents of 14 children, Mrs. Rex (Francis) Bell of Cotter, Ark., Harry of Craig, Colo., Jake of Sioux City, Iowa, David and Eddie of Gillette, Frank of Newcastle and Sam, Bonnie, Rusty, Bobby, Tommy and Randy, all of the family home. Two sons, Douglas and Dudley, her husband and one sister, Jeanne Tanner died previously.

Other survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Munsinger of Modesto, Calif.; seven sisters, Darlene Jones, Berdy Cummings, Julie Fur, Dolly Pavalacky and Helen Munsinger, all of California, LaVonna Furl of Nevada and Betty Pavalacky of Gillette, five brothers, Guy, Bob, Fred and Roy, all of California and John of Washington; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Brott Death Recorded As Highway Fatality

According to investigating officer Eldon Alexander, Highway Patrol, the death of Mrs. Lillian Brott, Lance Creek, March 17 was recorded as a highway fatality.

Mrs. Brott was injured in a one car accident which occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. March 16 north of Manville. She died from injuries sustained to her heart in the accident. Mrs. Brott was thrown against the steering wheel of the vehicle.
