Judd Brott Dies in Lusk Friday
Funeral services for Judson Brott, 51, were held at the Peet Chapel in Lusk Tuesday 2:00 p.m. Mr. Brott died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Friday night, after being hospitalized for several months with cancer.
The Rev. Fred Bolinger of the First Baptist Church officiated at the services. Mrs. Alex Miller and Mrs. Robert Smith sang "A Closer Walk With Thee", "Beyond the Sunset" and "Mansion on the Hilltop", accompanied by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro on the organ.
Casket bearers were Jess York, Walt Kant, Sven Johnson, Kenneth Hawkins, Bob Marman and C. B. Payne.
Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Slothower, Roy Brazelton, Ray Austin, Orval Hoyt, William Hovis, Clem Mosier, Bob Graves, Lee Moore, Louis Stubson, John Norton and Warren Walters. Military rites under the auspices of the Weiten-Dupes Post, American Legion, were held at the graveside.
Judson Francis Brott was born, August 23, 1916, in Crawford, to Harry V. and Viola Brott. He received his education in Nebraska schools, moving with his parents to Manville in 1932.
On December 6, 1941, he and Lillie Munsinger were married at the First Baptist Church in Lusk. Following their marriage, Mr. Brott worked as a ranchhand for the late Petty Johnson. Later they moved to Oregon where he worked in the shipyards until entering the Air Force in June 1945. The family then came back to Lance Creek where they have since made their home. He worked for the Argo and Continental Oil Companies, and since January 1, 1956, he worked for the Marathon (Ohio) Oil Company as a pumper.
They were the parents of 14 children; Mrs. Rex (Francis) Bell of Tacoma, Wash., Harry and David of Gillette, Jake of Harrison and Frank, Ed, Sam, Bonnie, Rusty, Bobby, Tommy and Randy, of the family home. Two sons Douglas and Dudley; 4 brothers and 1 sister died previously.
Other survivors besides the above are his wife, Lillie, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry V. Brott, Iowa Park, Tex.; five brothers, Rufus, Torrington, Clifford, Dallas, Tex., Fay, Iowa Park, Texas, Charles, Phoenix, Ariz., and Bennie of Waco, Tex.; two sisters, Shirley Rains, Iowa Park, Tex., and Violet White of Houston, Tex.; four grandchildren-Rodney, Kimbella and Jimmy Brott of Harrison and Larry Bell of Tacoma, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
