Death Takes Toll

The chronicle of events may not always have good news to tell. In his stories there may be mingled the (heights) of joy and the depths of sorrow. In the midst of joyful homemaking, death may come, and the builders separated or both taken, and the home is shattered, the picture broken.

It is our province to record the sad news of the death of Mrs. Jacob Seegrist at her home in Manville last week. Little twin babies died with the mother, we were told.

Rev. Thomas kindly sent to the Times the following notices of the death and burial of Mrs. Seegrist and Carl York.

Friends of the Seegrist family were all grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Jacob Seegrist on Thanksgiving evening, after a very brief illness, from influenza.

Her maiden name was Lola Gertrude Holmes, and her birthplace was Stafford, Kansas, Jan. 10, 1893.

Immediately after her marriage to Jacob Seegrist in April, 1915, they came to their homestead south of Lost Spring a few miles, where they lived until their removal to Manville last fall.

We counted her one of the choicest friends we knew, always having a pleasant word and smile for all.

Her Christian life began in early childhood as she united with the M.E. church when but 10 years old. She and her husband placed their letters in the Prairie View church during the revival in the fall of 1915 where her membership was held at the time of her death.

Her quiet spiritual life was surely a splendid preparation for death and leaves a beautiful memory to all who knew her. The husband, baby, mother, and all who grieve, have our deepest sympathy.

Burial was at the Prairie View cemetery where Rev. Thomas held a very short service.
