L.B. DERR DIES IN CASPER, JULY 27
L.B. Derr, 58, former Lusk resident, passed away at his home in Casper, Friday, July 27, following a brief illness.
Mr. Derr, an employee of the Chicago & Northwestern railroad, and his wife made their home in Lusk for a number of years, leaving here about two years ago to make their home in Casper, where they have since resided.
Born in Tecumseh, Neb., on Jan. 22, 1887, he spent his boyhood days on a farm near that city, later moving to Alliance, Neb., where he took up a homestead and also worked part time on the Burlington railroad. In 1918 he entered the armed forces and in serving overseas was wounded in the battle of St. Mihiel. He received his discharge at Ft. Warren in the spring of 1919.
In 1922 he was married to Miss Florence Witte of Gering, Neb.
Funeral services were conducted from the Gay Chapel in Casper on Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Veterans plot in Highland Cemetery at Casper with the Veterans of Foreign Wars conducting the graveside rites.
