ALLEN RICHARDSON OF MANVILLE DIES

Although in poor health for a number of years the death of Allen Richardson of Manville came as a shock to friends on Tuesday, April 10, when it became known that he passed away at the Lusk Hospital, which he had entered only two days previously.

The Richardson family has resided on a a ranch three miles north of Manville for many years.

Besides his bereaved wife he leaves five sons to mourn his death. Fred, who is in defense work in San Francisco; Bud, in the armed forces in the Philippines; Leslie, who is in the navy, is somewhere aboard a tanker; another son, Floyd, is reported missing over Germany, and a younger son, Jack, is at home. One grandson also survives him.

The funeral services will be held from the Peet chapel this (Thursday) afternoon at one o'clock, with Rev. Doughty, pastor of the Methodist church of Manville, officiating.

The remains will be laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery, and the casket bearers will be T.L. Cantwell, Clarence Pinkerton, Dale Quick, Fred Kettler, Wm. Krei and Mr. Blankenship.

SERVICES FOR A.P. RICHARDSON HELD

Allen P. Richardson, a resident of Niobrara County for twenty-three years, was laid to rest in the Lusk Cemetery Thursday afternoon, April 12.

Funeral services were held from the Peet chapel at one o'clock, with Rev. C.B. Doughty, pastor of the Methodist Church of Douglas and Manville, officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Howard of Manville furnished the music during the service.

Long-time friends bore the casket to its final resting place in the Lusk cemetery. They were Frank Blankenship, Wm. Krei, Dale Quick, Fred Kettler, T.L. Cantwell and Clarence Pinkerton.

Allen Preston Richardson was born in Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 11, 1879, the son of Preston and Lizzy Richardson. He passed away at the Lusk Hospital, Tuesday morning, April 10, after a prolonged illness, being 65 years, 5 months and one day old.

He was married to Eunice Boham in Lincoln, Neb., August 10, 1913. To this union five sons were born.

In 1922 the family moved to Wyoming, locating on a ranch near Manville, and Mr. Richardson has farmed and raised livestock since that time.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Richardson, and his parents.

Besides his wife, Eunice, he is survived by his five sons, Fred Raymond of Los Angeles, Calif.; Private Carl Bud, serving with the armed forces in the Philippines; Floyd, missing in action in France; Leslie Emerson, with the Merchant marines, and Jack Ernest, at home with his mother. One sister, Mrs. Cora Grosse of Los Angeles, Calif., and three brothers, Charles of Sedro Wooley, Wash.; Ted of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dan, address unknown.

Note: After some research, the birthdate 11/11/1879 seems to be correct. Cemetery records previously had 12/31/1880, but his obituary and his draft card have his birth as 11/11/1979. His gravestone says 1869, and Census records indicate approximate year of birth is 1880.
