Memorial services for Shirley Price, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Lingle Presbyterian Church with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lingle. Shirley died Saturday, July 30 at Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Memorials have been established to either Diversified Services of Torrington or the Lingle Rescue Unit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
Shirley was born Sept. 21, 1928 in Scottsbluff, Nebr., the daughter of Emil and Marjorie (Mosteller) Lair. She grew up and received her education in Lingle, graduating Lingle High School in 1946. She worked at the Patrick Brothers Ranch for a while before going to work for Chester B. Brown Bean as a bookkeeper. She married Howard Price on October 25, 1951 in Lingle. She worked for her mother in the Lingle Cafe for many years before operating and managing the Sale Barn Cafe for her mother in 1965. She was there until 2001. In 1996 Shirley started working fulltime at Diversified Services as a home trainer where she was employed at the time of her death.
Shirley loved doing crafts especially plastic canvas and was an avid card player. She was a member of the Lingle Presbyterian Church, and the Lingle American Legion Auxiliary where she was a past president and served as secretary for many years.
She is survived by two sons, William P. Price and his wife Deborah of Casper, Wyo., and Thomas H. Price and his wife Helen of Kearney, Mo.; two daughters, Luanne Moorehouse and her husband Wes of Torrington, and Mary Jane Cross and her husband Jay of Lingle; two sisters Miriam Bremer and her husband Dale and Wilma Bingham and her husband Sam all of Lingle; eight grandchildren, Dale and Victoria Price and Tad Byram of Casper, James Christensen of Virginia Beach, Va., Tommy Price of Kearney, Mo., Jessica Church and Julia Byram of Torrington, and Noah Christensen of Virginia Beach; a nephew Bob Oates of Torrington and a niece Susan Walker of Brooksville, Fla. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
