Patsy Fern Cox
Patsy Fern Cox entered into rest on Dec. 19, 2012, after a very short illness. Patsy (Pat) was born to Robert and Leta Stairs on Oct. 7, 1937, in Calloway, Neb. and spent her childhood in Ord and Cairo, Neb. Pat married Ervin M. Cox on July 24, 1954. To this union came two daughters; and a son who died in infancy. The made their homes in Shelton and Grand Island, Neb. This marriage ended in divorce in 1962. On December 24, 1963, Pat married Ronald O. Fowler and the remained married until his death in 1987. They resided in Grand Island and Aurora, Neb., until they moved to Lusk in 1973. She remarried Ervin M. Cox on July 12, 2009, and they lived in Lusk until they moved to The Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, Wyo. in 2010.
Pat was a dedicated member and two-time president of the Lusk B.P.O. Does, Drove # 64. She was also an officer in the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary in Nebraska and Wyoming. Pat spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and enjoyed her many friends and family and was a devoted "Grammy" to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster grandchildren. She was a talented cook, seamstress, nurse, and waitress and was always involved in community projects. She enjoyed cooking, camping and some gardening as hobbies. Her other hobbies were giving of her time to distribute USDA Commodities through the B.P.O. Does and also delivered Colorado Share groceries to the community. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Leta Stairs, her second husband Ronald Fowler, her infant son Robert David Cox, three sisters; Barbara Stairs, Linda Ramirez and Janet Blaise, three nephews; Billy and John Blaise and Bobby Parker; and an infant grandson, Matthew Robert Blaney. She is survived by her husband, Ervin M. Cox of Basin, Wyo, two daughters Rhonda (Larry) Stone, Dixie L. Blaney, and foster daughter Tennille (L.D. Stone) Henry of Lusk; stepdaughter, Charlotte Coffey, sister Connie Cowles of Alliance, Neb.; step-sister, Mary (Cox) Coe of Boise, ID; step-brother, Bill Cox of Salt Lake City, UT; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her own children and grandchildren, she was a Mom and Grandma to many, many neighborhood children.
Pat will be cremated and kept with her loving husband, Ervin, until they can be laid to rest together.
