CHESTER BAKER DIES FROM TICK FEVER AT DOGIE

<First Victim of Disease in This County; Funeral Services at Old Home in Crawford

Chester Baker, 49 years old, Dogie rancher, died at his home last Sunday evening about 5 o'clock of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, from which he had been suffering for several weeks.

After he had become seriously ill, the symptoms indicated that he had the dreaded tick fever. He made a trip to Newcastle to see a physician, who treated him and he seemed to be getting better.

His fever had left and it was believed he was on the road to recovery. However, last Sunday evening he suffered a relapse and died about 5:00 o'clock.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Crawford, Neb., where he had resided for many years, prior to coming to Wyoming, arrangements being in charge of George Earl Peet, who accompanied the body to that place Wednesday afternoon.

Pallbearers were chosen from members of the Knights of Pythias lodge, of which he was a member.

OBITUARY
Chester Roy Baker was born on June 17, 1882, at Howard, Kansas, and died at his home near Dogie, Wyo., on May 8, 1932, at the age of 49 years, 10 months and 21 days. At the age of 7 years he came with his parents to Crawford, Neb., where they settled on the father's homestead, south of Crawford on Sawlog Creek, where Mr. Baker grew to manhood.

At one time he was an active member of the Adventist church and upheld the principle of that denomination as long as he lived.

He was a graduate of Crawford Hi School. On September 28, 1904, he married Miss Olive A. Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hall, and to this union five children were born - Albert, who died Oct. 5, 1925; Mrs. Elfreda B. Packard, of Dogie, Wyo.; Clarence, Esther and Melvin.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, Ellen Baker, of Crawford, Nebr., two brothers, A. D. Baker of Crawford, Neb.; Chas. Baker of Washington and one sister, Mrs. Florence Reeves of Dogie, Wyo., and one granddaughter, Winona Packard, of Dogie.

Mr. Baker spent about 7 years as clerk in stores in Crawford, but has spent most of his life ranching near Crawford. In 1929 he filed on a homestead 60 miles north of Lusk and has lived there up until the time of his death.
