Graveside services will be held for Casper resident Ida May Doane, 81, at 3 p.m. on May 13, 2001 in Lusk. Pastor Gary Walker will be conducting the graveside services. There will be a coffee reception immediately following at Ken and Linda Keenan's home (two miles north, one mile west of Lusk).

She died May 5, 2001 at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper. She was born Jan. 5, 1920 on the family ranch in the Whitman community north of Lusk, the daughter of Earle Harley Hales and Mary Leila Finley. Ida grew up on the family ranch around the Whitman community and she completed all 12 grades at the Old Pine Knot School.

At the age of 17 she married Andy Lester Martin in Harrison, Neb., on Oct. 16, 1937. There were five children born in this union. They spent their years farming and ranching in the Lusk and Wheatland area.

On her birthday, Jan. 5, 1955, she married Edward Gilbert Doane in Casper. They raised nine children. She was happiest baking, reading books, ranching and watching her children grow.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Earle and Mary L. Hales; both husbands, Andy Martin and Edward Doane; her eldest son, George Martin and his son Troy Martin.

Survivors include one brother, Ernest Hales of Lusk; two sisters, Martha Lenz of Wheatland, and Mary James of Lusk. Eight children, Andrea Roth of Swansea, S.C.; Peggy Jo Jugler of Casper, Ramona Gail Ray of Casper, John Stanley Martin of Casper, Terry Gilbert Doane of Prineville, Ore., Linda Gail Keenan of Lusk; Tony Nile Doane of Casper, Joyce May Wasserburger of Gillette. She has 27 grandchildren and 25+ great-grandchildren.
