Clarence George Siebken

Clarence Siebken, 83, of Lusk, Wyo., passed away on Jan. 3, 2013 at West Nebraska Regional Hospital in Scottsbluff, NE.

Clarence was born on April 11, 1929 in Crawford, Neb. He was the son of George and Goldie Siebken of Van Tassell, Wyo. Clarence was raised on the family ranch at Van Tassell, attended grade school in Van Tassell and high school at Niobrara County High School in Lusk.

Clarence spent his early years helping on the family ranch. His teen years found him and his friends gathering at the Hoover Ranch, which was located southeast of Van Tassell, riding bucking horses and bulls. His love for horses led him to enjoy helping various ranchers trail cattle, brand calves and break horses. Clarence enjoyed attending horse sales and rode horses through the sale ring for other consignors. His life-long love for horses gave him an excellent eye for good horses.

Clarence was employed with Chicago Northwestern Railroad for more than 34 years. In 1983 he married Coleen Stafford. he enjoyed hunting, camping, reading, rodeos and spending time with friends and family.

Due to Clarence's hearing handicap communication was difficult. He was quiet, very kind-hearted, generous, respected and well-liked by everyone who knew him. Clarence would share or give anything he owned to family, friends or anyone who was in need.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, George and Althea (Goldie) Siebken, three sisters: Della, Kathryn and Wyoma and also by his brother Kenneth. Clarence is survived by his step daughters Rhonda Holdbrook of Douglas, Shelly (Dwight) Krein of Lusk, Tammy (Bob) Bonsell of Lusk, step son, K.C. Stafford of Longview, Wash., niece Althea Sahl of Denver, Colo., cousin Dwaine Siebken of Douglas and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Clarence will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, Wyo.

Memorial Service Change

Due to weather, the memorial service for Clarence Siebken, 83, of Lusk, Wyo., has been postponed from Saturday, Jan 12, 2013, to Sat., Jan. 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Pastors Tom Strock and David Shaner officiating. Mr. Siebken passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at W4est Nebraska Regional Hospital in Scottsbluff, Neb. Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
