Sister and Brother-In-Law of Andrew McMaster Die in Neb.

The Andrew McMaster family suffered much grief the past week in the deaths of a sister and brother-in-law of Mr. McMaster. The sister, Mrs. Richard B. Lange, 56, who has been ill with a heart condition since April 2, died May 23 at the Sisters Hospital in Alliance, Neb. from a blood clot.

Mr. Lange, 63, deputy sheriff of Box Butte County, was found dead the morning of May 20 at his home in Alliance. He suffered a gunshot wound from a .38 calibre revolver, which local officers said was self-inflicted. He had been greatly discouraged and the additional burden of his wife's health was apparently too much. She, however, had not been told of is death.

Double funeral services were conducted the afternoon of May 24 from the Congregational Church in Hemingford with the Rev. W. James Hoare officiating and burial was in the Hemingford Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. McMaster and their son, Jack, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burnham attended the rites. The McMasters have been back and forth to Alliance since Mrs. Lange became ill.

A daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Vorovka, and two grandchildren of Hemingford, survive. In fact, amidst the family sadness, a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Vorovka Friday, May 20.

Besides the brother, Mr. McMaster, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude White, lives at Puyallup, Wash.

Mrs. Lang(e) was born April 1, 1899, in St. Paul, Neb. and was married in 1920. The family farmed near Whitney, Chadron and Crawford for a number of years and in 1942 moved to Hemingford where he served as marshal and then to Alliance where he was deputy sheriff for a little more than four years. Both the Lange and McMaster families are widely known in western Nebraska.
