Alberta was a collector of cardinals, an avid crafter, and a bit of a practical joker. She's known for a few water fights and throwing peanuts at her brother while he played piano on stage, as well as verbally tormenting most men in her life - friends and relatives alike. They responded in kind. In her earlier years she was a waitress and bartender, and even sewed rain coats for the troops during WWII. Alberta was constantly learning. She completed her G.E.D. in 1983, was consistent in Bible study, and most recently taught herself to knit. She was enormously dedicated to family and showed her loyalty by raising her granddaughter and taking care of her elderly mother. She loved puzzles and watching John Wayne movies. Alberta was a fighter, living independently until her death even after battling years of poor health and losing a leg. She passed peacefully at the Niobrara Health & Life center Saturday morning.
Services will be held at the Pier Funeral Home on Thursday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m., with a viewing held Wednesday, October 24 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial to the Pier Funeral Home in Lusk.
