Mr. and Mrs. Leo Eddy Killed in Accident at Casper
Double funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Leo W. Eddy will be held in Casper Friday morning. The Eddy's, victims of an auto accident, are former residents of this community, having resided for a number of years on a ranch near Node.
The accident happened about 7 o'clock Saturday evening when the car in which they were riding crashed into the rear of an oil tanker truck which had been parked along U.S. Highway 20, about 20 miles west of Casper.
Mrs. Eddy was killed instantly and Mr. Eddy suffered serious head and leg injuries and was taken to the memorial hospital in Casper by the Bustard ambulance, where he died Monday evening.
The tanker was owned by E. S. Winter and was being driven by Earl Garrett, also of Casper. A flat tire on the tanker caused Garrett to park along the highway, but he failed to place warning flares.
The impact of the collision drove the motor of the automobile back into the front seat, killing Mrs. Eddy instantly.
After leaving Lusk the Eddy's moved to Irvine, where Mr. Eddy was section foreman, later moving to Orin, and when he was promoted to roadmaster on this division of the Chicago & Northwestern railway, they made their home in Casper.
Surviving are two children, a son, Robert, who is in the Navy, and a daughter, Virginia, who lives in Casper.
The double funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock at the Bustard funeral home in Casper on Friday morning, with the Rev. H. Allison McHenry, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
The remains will then be taken to Douglas, where graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. and interment made in the Douglas cemetery.
