Herbert Resalvo Kingman
Herbert R. Kingman, who had resided in Chelan since 1894, died Friday, March 26, in a Spokane hospital.
Born on June 1, 1862, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, he was married to Molly Saffel in Lusk, Wyoming. They came to Chelan in 1894. Mr. Kingman and his brother, Morrison, built the first electric waterpower system in Chelan with the power plant constructed on the Chelan River. Mrs. Kingman preceded him in death in 1905; also a daughter, Mrs. Harry Varney in 1947. In 1907, Mr. Kingman married Nellie Boyd who died in 1929.
Surviving are two sons, Henry Kingman and Lawrence Kingman, both of Chelan; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday.
