Roy Moore, age 51 of Douglas passed away Saturday, June 9 at Hospice in Casper surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium in Lusk, with Gary Walker officiating. Interment will be at the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews; DJ Heine, Nathan Heine, Scott Reef, Mat Moore, and Justin Lutz. Honorary pallbearers, Ron Gonzales, friends at Lonnie's Pumping Service, Samson Resources, and many others including former classmates and friends.
Roy was born August 31, 1960 in Lusk, Wyoming to Eldon Moore and Rose (Wilkison) Moore of Lance Creek, the second eldest son. He grew up on the Joss and Cross A Ranches. He started driving water truck in Lance Creek at an early age, not old enough to get a driver's license. Roy spent several years working construction. Roy left construction and started pumping wells. At the time of his death Roy was pumping for Samson Resources out of Douglas.
Roy enjoyed elk hunting and fishing, spending many a year on Bacon Ridge at Dubois with his brothers and uncles. Roy was an amazing man he was always available to lend a helping hand no matter the circumstance. He always got a big grin from the hugs from the nieces and nephews. Roy had seen every western movie he could many times over, you could always catch up on what Little Joe and Hoss had been doing.
His survivors include siblings Kay Jacob and husband Jeff of Crawford, NE., Tammie Reef and husband Randy of Worland, brother Dennis Moore of Lance Creek, Sister, Donna Lutz and husband Don of Mohnton, PA., sister in law Joni Moore from Douglas, WY. Nieces and nephews DJ and wife Brooke, Mindy and husband Glen, Nathan, Scotty, Michelle and husband Sam, Matt, Michael ,Trish Samantha Lutz, Justin, Jenna, Hanna, and Dennis. Several great nieces and nephews including; Hayden, Landon, Payton, Randal, Makenzi, Makayla, Addison, Laura, Madison, Destiny, Damian and Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, and brother Ronnie Moore.
Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
