Cody C. Covington Killed in Fall at Las Vegas, N.M.
Word of the death of Cody Covington at Las Vegas, N. Mexico has been received by friends here. Death resulted from a 50-foot fall through a roof on which he was working the afternoon of July 29.
Cody was the son of the late Ben Covington, who grew to young manhood in Lusk and attended school here. The father, was accidentally killed in Casper several years ago by a cave-in of earth in a pipe line.
Mr. Covington was born at Manville, Wyo., Oct. 10, 1914. He attended grade school at Manville and high school in Casper, where he graduated in 1935. He was a lieutenant in the ROTC and played football in 1934 and 1935.
He and Thelma Lansing were married Aug 14, 1937, at Douglas, Wyo. Mr. Covington was employed for three years by the Standard Oil company at Casper and two years at the Bureau of Reclamation in Tucumcari, N.M. He had been at Las Vegas since January, 1941, where he was employed by the McNeil Construction company as a welding rigger.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ellen Covington of Casper and his wife, who is in a Las Vegas hospital awaiting the birth of a child and three brothers, Frank, Dale, Louis and Lyle.
Funeral services were held Aug 2 at the St. Joan of Ark church at Las Vegas. Mass was held by the Rev. Father Smith. The remains will be taken to Guernsey, Wyo, for interment, as soon as the widow is able to make the trip.
