MRS. VIOLA BAKER DIES AT HER HOME AT AGE OF FIFTY YEARS
Funeral Services Held at Congregational Church; Interment Made in Kirtley Cemetery
Viola Elizabeth Lapham was born September 20, 1875, in Adams county, Wis. She died at Van Tassell, Wyo., May 14, 1926, at the age of 50 years, 7 months and 18 days.
She lived at the place of her birth until she was 21 years of age, when she moved to Minnesota, near the city of Rochester.
On May 11, 1898, she was united in marriage with Leon Baker and their home was made at Douglas, Minn. Into the home thus established there came seven children. The two elders, Emma and Archie, died in early childhood.
Her husband and five children, Ray, Glenn, Gladys, Bessie and May, and one granddaughter survive her, and are present as we lay her away.
Mrs. Baker lived in Minnesota until last August when the family moved to Van Tassell, Wyo In addition to her immediate family she leaves three sisters residing in Minnesota and two in Wisconsin; two brothers in Wisconsin and one sister in Wyoming.; also a niece and nephew in Wyoming.
She fulfuilled well her part as a loving wife and mother, and her husband and children will ever have the memory of their gracious love and wise and tender care, and in the words of the scripture, will "rise up and call her blessed."
She lived a faithful Christian life, and loved the services of the church.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Van Tassell, Monday, May 17th, 1926, conducted by the Rev. George W. Mitchell of Chadron. Burial was made in the cemetery at Kirtley.
(Note: Although Leon Baker is the owner of an unknown grave in Kirtley, the Lusk Cemetery records show Viola Elizabeth Baker's burial in the Lusk Cemetery.)
