Florence Ann Kincaid Reynolds
AGED LADY PASSES SUNDAY, NOV. 5 AT DAUGHTER'S HOME
Mrs. Florence Ann Kincaid Reynolds passed away quietly at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, November 5, 1939, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rice in Lusk. Her death was attributed to a stroke which she suffered two weeks ago and since that time has been confined to her bed. Thru the last days of her life pneumonia was contracted, and she failed rapidly. Mrs. Reynolds was 93 years and three months of age at the time of her death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Peet Chapel at 10 a.m., Tuesday morning, November 7, with Rev. F. H. Evans officiating. Mrs. Delbert Cobb and Mrs. C. E. Marvin rendered the following duets, "Rock Of Ages," "Nearer My God To Three," and "Asleep With Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson. The body was then shipped to Pleasanton, Kansas, where burial will be made.
Relatives attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Rice of Lusk and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Snyder of Lusk.
Mrs. Reynolds will be remembered as a hard working, faithful wife as well as a loving and devoted mother and loyal friend.
Florence Ann Jones was born August 6, 1847, near Perrysville, Indiana. At the age of two years, she went with her parents to northeastern Iowa. In 1856 she moved with her parents to Starville, Texas, later going to Tongarroxie, near the Golf of Mexico. At the breaking out of the Civil War, her father died, leaving the mother with seven children to care for.
In 1861 she moved, with her mother to Kansas, and went through the hardships of the Civil War. On May 9, 1861, Florence was united in marriage to Madison F. Kincaid. To this union were born three children: William, Allie and Bertha. Mr. Kincaid passed away March 24, 1914.
Mrs. Kincaid made her way alone for seven years, and in 1928 was united in marriage to Mr. J. W. Reynolds, who died eighteen months later.
Mrs. Reynolds had very little school advantages, but was an extensive reader and kept herself well informed. When but a girl, she professed faith in Jesus Christ and was united with the Methodist church. Many years later she lived where there was no Methodist church, and she united with the Presbyterian church with which she remained until the time of her death.
She was a hard working, home loving, faithful wife and mother, and a loyal friend. She spent most of her life in the country. During the past seven years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rice, in Lusk.
Some two weeks ago she suffered a light stroke and was confined to her bed. For the last three days she had suffered from pneumonia, and passed quietly away at 8:25 a.m., Sunday, November 5, 1939, at the age of 92 years and three months.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one brother, James Jones, of Manhattan, Kansas; one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Rice, of Lusk, Wyoming; and three grand-daughters, two in Oklahoma, and one, Mrs. Helen Snyder, of Lusk, Wyoming, as well as a legion of friends.
