Died Suddenly

Mrs. Sarah J. Hawthorne died of ptomaine poisoning Tuesday about noon, having been taken sick the night previous, after partaking of canned chicken soup. The rest of the family had gone out to their ranch and although Dr. Hawthorne insisted that someone should stay with his mother, she would not consent to any such arrangement, as she felt so well and was not at all afraid to stay by herself. About 10 o'clock Tuesday morning Miss Lipka on going over to have some dentistry done found Mrs. Hawthorne in a collapse and she at once gave the alarm and Dr. Magaby did what he could to relieve her, but found that she was too far gone to be helped by him. She was 73 years of age, a native of Harper's Ferry, Va., and had only been in Wyoming about 4 weeks. Five children survive her viz: - Wm. D. Hawthorne of Chicago; O.W. Hawthorne of Eldorado, Ark., Mrs. C. D Ryan and Miss Sadie H. Hawthorne of Milwaukee, Wis. and Dr. E. J. Hawthorne of this place.

The remains were shipped yesterday to Rock Island, Ills. and were accompanied by Miss Georgia Hawthorne, a grand-niece. The family has the sympathy of the whole community in their bereavement.
