Wilmer "Bill" Bredthauer

Funeral services for Wilmer "Bill" Bredthauer, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 1993, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lusk with Pastor Bradley Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Bredthauer died Sunday morning, Jan. 3, 1993, at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk. He was born April 15, 1911, at Scotia, Neb. the son of Herman and Anna Marie (Mary) Klein Bredthauer. He received his early education in the school at Scotia and graduated from Scotia High School in 1929.

He married Vera Amelia Demmer on May 22, 1938, at the Lutheran Church in Keeline, Wyo. Together they ranched in the Lusk area since 1940.

He was an active member of the community and had been honored by many organizations. He was past president and director of the Niobrara County Farm Bureau, served as a 4-H leader, and had been a member of the Niobrara County Fair Board, was a member of the National Association of Conservation Districts, the Niobrara County Weed and Pest Control Board, served as chairman of the Niobrara County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for 11 years.

Bill and Vera were active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Niobrara Senior Citizens Center. He was honored on Nov. 20, 1991, for 300 hours of volunteer work at the Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Marie (Mary) Bredthauer; three brothers; Elmer and Clarence Bredthauer and a half brother Henry Leindecker; three sisters; Sophie, Ruth and Lulu.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, of Lusk; four sons; David of Manville, Ray of Pinedale, Ralph of Lusk and Charles of Gillette; three sisters: Lillie Smith and Dorothy Meyer both of California, and Mollie Long of Arizona; two brothers, Herman of Lincoln, Neb., and Alvin of Algonquin, Ill., 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara County Senior Center will be appreciated by the family.
