Lucinda M. Kern

Obituary

Mrs. Lucinda M. Kern departed this life April 5, 1910, at the age of seventy-nine years and two days. She had lived at Manville with her daughters, Mesdames Spaugh and Manorgan for the past nine years and had made friends of all who became acquainted with her beautiful character. She was of a loving and cheerful disposition and was a true and kind friend. Although in delicate health for several years, she retained an intense interest in her many friends and also in religious work as well as in all world-wide interests. She had been actively engaged in Sunday school, missionary and W. C. T. U. work.

She leaves a large circle of relatives and friends in Illinois to mourn her loss, among them being two brothers and two sisters, and one son in St. Louis. This rare woman was laid to rest beside her husband in the Manville cemetery on Thursday, April 7. Loving friends had filled the church and covered the casket with flowers. Each one in the crowded church felt a personal loss, and when the favorite passages had been read from the Bible, and the comforting hymns died away, there came a feeling of deep peace that was itself a tribute to her who had left us. "It is well, it is well with my soul!"
