Denley Clay Norman
Denley Norman, 44, passed away in Lusk, Wyo., Wednesday, July 27, 2011, from injuries sustained in a ranching accident. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Lusk, with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.
Denley Clay Norman was born the second of four children to Chester and Claudette Norman of Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1966. He attended school in Tucumcari, NM until high school, where he finished in Las Vegas.
He and his brothers, Arlyn and Bryan, and little sister Jinger grew up on ranches in New Mexico and became good hands under the watchful eye of their cowboy dad. Denley and his siblings were raised in a home where the seeds of faith were tended to by both of his parents.
In 1980 at 12 years old he made a choice to serve God in his own heart. The years that followed took him to many wide open spaces, but he remained faithful throughout his life to the promise he'd made. His first job away from home was on the Bell Ranch where he had wonderful memories of big country, plenty of horses and a bit of independence. He ventured north in 1989 following his lifelong friend to a remote camp on the Kendrick Ranch.
It wasn't long until he claimed Wyoming as home and met his wife, Lisa Mengering from Buffalo. They were married in December 1991 and embarked on a new life starting out in West Texas working for Buster Welch. Wyoming soon called them back and after 3 years on the Padlock they moved to the Haythorn Ranch of Nebraska. The sandhills of Nebraska were home for over 14 years and the Haythorn family became lifelong friends. They welcomed two daughters, Kate and Carly into their lives, and Denley became a daddy to be treasured. In 2009 they made a jump to working on their own, and were living on the 4-3 ranch north of Lusk, WY at the time of Denley's death. He is survived by his wife Lisa and two daughters, Kate and Carly, brother Arlyn Norman (Alva, Ok.), brother Bryan Norman (Pine Bluffs, Wyo.), sister Jinger Bates (Meeker, Colo.), and parents Chester and Claudette Norman of Las Vegas, NM.
