Wm Sturgis, Old Cattle Man, Dies in East Thursday
Word was received here of the death of William Sturgis, 91 years of age, in New York City last Thursday, after a brief illness.
Hans Gautschi of the Lusk Museum Committee only a few weeks ago received a letter from Mr. Sturgis, enclosing a check for $10 to have his bridle bit brand placed on one of the logs in the Museum. The letter was in an optimistic vein, and the writer said he was soon to begin writing his memoirs.
Mr. Sturgis was secretary of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association from 1876 to 1887, and was one of the best known cattle men of the early days in Wyoming.
