Lenore G. Larsen
Lenore G. Larsen, 79, of Lusk, Wyoming, passed away on March 3, 2011 at the Niobrara Health & Life Center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk. Cremation has taken place, and at her request, her ashes will be scattered over the ranch where she spent her childhood.
Lenore was born Jan. 29, 1932 in Alliance, NE to Marie Valentine (Boyer) and Paul Thomas Roseberry. She was raised on the Roseberry ranch near Mullen, NE and graduated from high school there. She started teaching right out of normal school, and for many years, taught for 9 months a year and attended Chadron State College during the summer months. She went to college full time her senior year, graduating in 1957. She and her future husband, Don Larsen, met while they were students at Chadron State, and married in Los Angeles, CA in 1957. They taught at many schools in California, Nevada and Wyoming, finally settling in Lusk in 1973. She retired in 1988 after 40 years of teaching.
She had many interests, among which were her love of reading, history and travel. Following retirement, she enjoyed trips to Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, a Rhine river trip to Austria and Germany, the Holy Land, Spain and Portugal, the Panama Canal, Alaska and Canada. One of her favorite trips was one to the New England states during the fall.
Lenore's fondest memories were of time spent with her family while growing up on the family ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills. She was very, very proud of her nieces and nephews, and in recent years took a particular interest in her nephew Wyatt's saddle bronc riding, attending every rodeo within driving distance. She loved her church and was an active member of St. George's Episcopal for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Thomas, and niece Lajeania. She is survived by her husband Don, brother John (Karen) Roseberry of Curtis, NE, sister-in-law Estelle Roseberry of Mullen, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.
