Former Resident Here Killed At Torrington
Matt Lacy, 54, who was killed when struck by a car at Torrington last Wednesday, was a former resident of Sioux County, and his wife was the daughter of the Reverend Johnson, minister of the Methodist Church here about 20 years ago.
Funeral services were held at Torrington Saturday and were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pullen, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Pullen, and Billy Baker from here.
The accident happened as Mr. Lacy was walking across icy U. S. Highway 26 less than a mile west of Torrington. He was struck by a car driven by Tom Kelsey, 18. No blame was placed upon Kelsey. Death was instantaneous.
Mr. Lacy was born June 2, 1906 at Scottsbluff, but was a lifelong resident of Goshen County. He was a cattle feeder for the Holly Sugar Co.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Melvin, of Laramie, Wyo., two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Schmick of Torrington and Kathy Ann Lacy at the family home; three brothers, five sisters and his mother, Mrs. Rose Lacy of Denver.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Torrington Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Cies officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.
