Mary C. Hanna, Former Lusk Woman, Passes
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary C. Hanna, 88, formerly of Lusk, who died at Lingle Saturday, April 20 were conducted at the Community church in Lingle on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.
Rev. Walter S. Ripley, Baptist minister from Denver, officiated at the service and the Eastern Star burial service was also conducted at the church. Interment was made in the Wheatland cemetery beside the body of her husband, Dr. Joseph T. Hanna.
Mrs. Hanna was born October 5, 1857 in Boone County, Indiana, the daughter of Isaiah and Sarah Huffman. On February 19, 1877 she was married to Dr. Joseph T. Hanna who died at Chugwater, Wyo., in 1934.
Dr. and Mrs. Hanna lived in Lusk for a number of years where the doctor was a practicing physician. They moved from Lusk to Chugwater in 1928 and lived there until the doctor's death.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Hanna were members of Niobrara Chapter No. 26, Order of the Eastern Star of Lusk and Mrs. Hanna had been a member of the organization for sixty-eight years. They were both members as well as active workers in the Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Hanna are twin sons, Dr. G. O. Hanna and Mark N. Hanna both of Lingle. A third son, C. A. Hanna of Scottsbluff, died in 1943. Seven grand children and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Friends and Eastern Star members from Lusk who attended the services Tuesday afternoon were Mrs. T. A. Godfrey, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Whelan, Mrs. Hans Gautschi, Mrs. a. B. Mills, Mrs. Hugh Nutt and Mrs. C. E. Marvin.
