Lost Springs Man Dies in Douglas
Frederick W. Meinzer, 80, died January 25, at the Memorial Hospital in Douglas, following a long illness. Mr. Meinzer was of the Lost Springs community, having homesteaded in that district thirty years ago.
Funeral services were held at Douglas January 28 at 2:30 o'clock at the Hoffman chapel. The Rev. Louis Gale of the Congregational Church was in charge of the service. Interment was made at the Douglas cemetery.
Frederick W. Meinzer was born at Brownsville, Minn., on February 13, 1865, and at the time of his death lacked three weeks of being 81 years of age. He was the youngest of eight children born to John and Louise Meinzer. His three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
On September 21, 1890, he and Maria F. Reils were married at Cedar Rapids, Neb., and went to Omaha to make their home. Eight children were born to them. A daughter, Edna, died in 1916.
Mr. and Mrs. Meinzer came to Wyoming in 1916 and filed on a homestead north of Lost Springs, which has been their permanent residence ever since.
Surviving him are his widow; three sons, Fred, Arthur and Louis; a daughter, Lillie; three sisters, Francis, Lula and Mildred, and six grandsons and four granddaughters.
