Services for Lauretta Kelley, 81, of Guernsey were April 29, 1997, at the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Dreblow officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery. Memorials are to the Diabetes Association. She died at Platte County Memorial Hospital April 23, 1997.
She was born Sept. 22, 1915, at Scoby, Mont., to Fred N. and Lizzy T. (Haliday) Davis. The family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, where she grew up and received her schooling. She married William J. Kelley Aug. 5, 1936, in Lusk and they made their home at Lance Creek. They moved to Linch, where they owned a grocery store until their retirement in 1963 when they moved to Guernsey. After his death in 1975, she moved to Buffalo and worked at Caribou Lodge and also at the Shoshoni Resort at Cody. She was a companion for Grace Long at Buffalo and also several other older women. She returned to Guernsey in 1982.
Survivors include daughter Twila Miller of Buffalo; grand-daughters Cammy Kretschmar of Lovell, Kathy Weaver of Guernsey and Joy Pehringer of Buffalo; great-grandchildren Bobby Kay Redondo of Green River, T.J. and Jason Kretschmar of Lovell, John and Amy Pehringer of Buffalo; and great-great-granddaughter Amber Erin Redondo of Green River. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a twin brother, Lester, brothers Lewis and Glen; sisters Lola, Lily and Emily; and granddaughters Connie and Trudy.
