Funeral for Mrs. Church Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Viola C. Church were held at 2:00 p.m. last Thursday with the Rev. Frank Bozart in charge. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle" with Mrs. J. P. Watson organist.

Pallbearers were: Lee James, John Lohr, Julian Phipps, Harold Wilson, Warren Robertson, and Harry Sides. Burial was in the Kirtley Cemetery.

Viola Caroline Gillett was born February 24, 1872 in Illinois, the daughter of John and Margaret Gillett. The family moved to Nebraska in 1878. She married Hial J. Church at Broken Bow, Neb., April 21, 1890. Immediately after their marriage they came to Wyoming locating near Laramie Peak where Mr. Church was employed in the sawmills of the area. Here a daughter Berlie, and a son, Francis, were born. The family moved to the Kirtley community about 1895 locating on homesteads and purchasing land. Here a daughter, Jessie, now Mrs. Hugh Golden, was born. Mr. Church died in 1915 and her daughter, Berlie in 1950. Mrs. Church moved to Lusk in 1935 and resided here until six years ago when she went to Casper to make her home with her son. She died in Evanston February 25.

Survivors include her son; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Golden of Apple Valley, Calif; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
