Funeral services for Dolly J. Blackburn, 67, will be held at a later date.
Dolly Blackburn, a resident of Glenrock, Wyo. died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming.
She was born July 20, 1943 in Ord, Neb. the daughter of George Stephen and Jane Elberta (Rosecrans) Carr. As a young girl she moved to Glenrock with her parents, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from the Parkerton-Glenrock High School. She was married to James Blackburn on Feb. 12, 1966 at the BB Brooks ranch house near Casper, Wyoming. They resided in Glenrock, where they owned and operated several businesses. She started Real Wyoming, which she only sold products made in Wyoming and she and James operated Blackburn Sanitation from 1972 to 2006 and Lonetree Archery from 1986 to 1998. She enjoyed painting, woodworking, gambling, her cats, and going to coffee.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Glenrock; sons, Jason (Becky) Blackburn of Lusk, Wyo. and Bret Blackburn of Glenrock; grandchildren, Britney, Lexi, Dalton, Kianna, and Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her parents and siblings, Barbara McCleary, Emery Carr, Don Carr, and Pete Carr.
A memorial to the Laramie Peak Humane Society, P.O. Box 463, Douglas, WY, 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
