Elaine Hill
Memorial services for Torrington resident Elaine Hill, 79, will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, March 28, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Torrington by Fr. Robert Spenser. Cremation has taken place.
Elaine died March 19, 2003 at her home.
Born September 9, 1923 in Mills, Nebraska, she was the daughter of George and Lela (Sherman) Sylvester. She moved with her family to Lusk, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1941.
She married Lawrence (Curly) Doman in South Carolina. The couple lived in Niobrara County and she worked at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk. In 1960, they moved to Maryland, where she was a secretary for the Prince George's County Police Department.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1968.
In 1972, she married Joseph R. Hill in Florida. They traveled between Florida and Maryland before moving to Torrington in 1991. Joe preceded her in death in 1994 after 22 years of marriage.
An active bridge player, Elaine was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Torrington and currently served as Co-Senior Warden.
Survivors include her son, Larry Doman of Bowie, Md.; sister, Nila Barnette of Lusk; and a grandson, Matthew.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church.
Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington is in charge of arrangements.
