Lillian Christian Dies Last Thurs. Service Sunday

Funeral service was held Sunday at the Peet Chapel at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Christian, 73, who died at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital last Thursday, Feb. 8.

The service was conducted by the Rev. Robert Boutwell of the First Congregational Church of Lusk with Mrs. Jane Bardo, organist. Tim Johnson, soloist, sang "The 23rd Psalm" and "When They Ring the Golden Bells".

Casket bearers were Bob Phipps, Herb Klindt, Walter Allard, Earnest Hales, Gerald Bardo and Ted Lohr. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Lillian Carol Lovelace, daughter of Dan W. Lovelace and Maude Fisher Lovelace, was born in St. Louis, Mo., September 15, 1899. When she was a young girl her family moved to Windsor, Mo. She attended public schools there, graduating as valedictorian of high school class of 1916. She attended the University of Missouri and then taught in the Windsor school system. Later she came to Wyoming and taught at Kirtley and Lusk.

She married Ray Christian at her parent's home in Windsor on July 8, 1925. They lived at the Christian ranch at Kirtley, until 1941 when they moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Christian was a member and past president of Chapter I of the P. E. O. Sisterhood and was also a member and past worthy matron of the Order of Easter Star. She was a member of the Cow Belles and of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Mrs. Christian was a member of the Congregational Church and had been active as a deaconess and in the Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Ray; a daughter Mrs. Dale (Rae Ann) Brooks of Idaho Falls, Ida.; a son Dan of Lusk; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Zapf of Maryville, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Her parents and a brother, Dan Lovelace of Clinton, Mo., died previously.
