Carl Douglas Lashmett

Carl Douglas Lashmett, 48, was born Sept. 8, 1961, at San Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan.

He moved to Lusk with his parents, Jewell and the late (Chub) Carl Lashmett, and sister Debbie, when he was an infant. Carl grew up in Lusk and got his first job at the Fireside Inn, owned by Norman and Cathy Brillhart. He worked for Cathy for 30 years when he went to work for Outpost Café, until his heath forced him into early retirement.

Carl enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Carl did not have any children of his own, but loved his nieces and nephews like they were his. He had a very special place in his heart for his cats, Cleo and Baxter. Carl will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

Carl leaves behind his mother, Jewell Lashmett - Lusk; three brothers, Walter Lashmett - Manville, Duke (Bev) Lashmett - Lusk , and John (Kandie) Lashmett - Lusk; two sisters, Debbie (Dave) Stanley - Lusk, Carla Cotton - Kansas City, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Carl joined his father in heaven on Aug. 17, 2010 after a hard fought fight with cancer. Carl will be deeply missed by all his brothers and sisters - he is my brother and a good friend.

Memorials in Carl's name may be made to Rocky Mountain Oncology Clinic in Casper, WY.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Interment was in Dellview Cemetery in Manville.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
