Steve Brewer
Steve Brewer is Kiled March 28 in Auto Wreck
Was resident of Lusk and Also Member of Local Baseball Team
Was Driving Home From Dance With Girl Friend When Fatal Accident Occurred.
It was with regret that friends of Steve Brewer learned of his death at Gordan, Nebr., on March 28th.
Steve played baseball here several years ago and lived in our community for some little time, making many friends while here.
He, with a Miss Marjorie Kline, was returning from a dance at Rushville and five miles west of Gordon collided with a car driven by Charles Loewenthal and John Brewer of Chadron. Both cars were ruined, but Steve's car being the lighter of the two, turned over several times. The occupants of the other car were not hurt at all and Miss Kline escaped with but a few scratches, while Steve was evidently thrown out and caught beneath the car in such a manner that his head was horribly mashed.
He was rushed to Gordon and everything possible done for him, but following twenty-seven hours of unconciousness, he passed away.
Mr. Brewer had played professional baseball in the Western Three-Eye League with St. Joseph and Grand Island in the Nebraska state baseball league. He played first base with Rushville last summer and was booked to play there this summer.
