Service Held for Frank Christian

Funeral service for Frank Christian 61, lifetime Niobrara County resident was held in the Peet Mortuary Chapel Sept. 16 with Pastor Chan Bayne officiating. He died Sept. 13.

Mrs. Judson Watson organist accompanied Mark Lohr as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were Blake Ford, Ray Olafson, Ralph Wasserburger, Robert Miller, Keith Lemons, and Al Titchener. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery, with the B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1797 officiating.

James Franklin Christian was born Sept. 7, 1915. on the Indian Creek Ranch 30 miles north of Lusk. He was the fourth child of 8 children born to James W. Christian and Clara Nell ZumBrunnen. He attended grade school at Indian Creek and graduated from Lusk High School.

He was married to Dorris Beth Townsend on Aug. 23, 1936. They were the parents of one son, Steve.

His early years were spent on the Indian Creek Ranch. He was Wyoming State Brand Inspector in St. Joseph, Missouri and Omaha, Neb. After leaving the employment of the State he was a livestock commission buyer for Lindley Livestock Company. He returned to Lusk and was associated in the Lusk Sales Pavilion with his brother and sister for several years. He was also a representative for Hamilton Funds, Inc., for several years. In later years he was self-employed in the nursery business.

Mr. Christian was a charter member of B. P. O. Elks Lodge No. 1797 and the first exalted ruler holding membership card No. 2. He was also a member of the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorris, father James W. Christian, sister Evelyn Knori, and brother John.

He is survived by his son Steve of Beaverton, Ore., 6 grandsons, one great-granddaughter, his mother Nellie C. Christian, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
