Dorothy Mae Standord (Stanford) who died in California Jan. 12 following a long illness was reared in Sioux County. She was born July 30, 1908, in Harrison to Michael D. and Clara Davis Jordan.
When she was seven years old her father died. Dorothy continued making her home in Harrison with her mother and sister Ruth. She graduated from Sioux County High School with the class of 1926.
Dorothy and James M. Stanford were married August 25, 1928, in South Dakota. A daughter, Norma Lee, was born to them in Midland, S. D. From Midland they moved to California to make their home.
She is survived by her daughter Norma Lee Dyer and granddaughter Devinee Lynn of Woodland, Calif.; her half sister, Hazel Willowby of Ronan, Mont.; step-sisters, Mary Nickles, Mancy, Penn.; Elizabeth Swope, Centralia, Wash., and Ada Heldt, Lisco, Neb.; stepbrothers, William Taylor, Douglas, Wyo., and Alva Taylor, Buffalo, Wyo.; a niece and two nephews, Lilly Kay Smith and Billy Baldwin of Wash. and Valder Baldwin of Phenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, baby brother Michael, sister Ruth Baldwin; half sisters Zelta, Nellie, Nina and Myrtle; half brothers Fred and Henry Davis; step-sister Emma Robb and step-brothers Fred, George and Clarence Taylor.
